Kent spinner James Tredwell put in a stand out performance for England as they beat Australia in the ODI at Old Trafford on Tuesday night.
The 30 year old was drafted into the side in place of the injured Tim Bresnan and did himself proud by finishing with figures of 2 for 23 in his seven overs.
Tredwell came into the attack with Australian opener David Warner well set, but it took the Kent spinner just four balls to trap him lbw for his first wicket for England at home.
The Kent spinner then affected the run out of Peter Forrest as he took the ball by the stumps, removing the bails before the Australian batsman could make his ground.
That wasn’t the end of the action for Tredwell though as he had Australian wicketkeeper batsman Matthew Wade stumped by Craig Kieswetter after turning one past the bat.
Australia went on to post 145 for 7 in the 32 overs of the rain affected match with England going on to knock off their revised target of 138 for the loss of just three wickets, winning with eleven balls to spare as Ravi Bopara scored an unbeaten 52.
That victory meant England completed a 4-0 whitewash over the Australians in the ODI series.
Meanwhile, the ECB have Tredwell the opportunity to play in Kent’s 3 day game against South Africa at Canterbury beginning on Friday.
